INFORMATION ABOUT ENYS ROAD SURGERY

At the end of the Second World War, Dr Basil Kent practiced from his home in Upperton Road where he was joined by Dr Geoffrey Wilson in 1954. Eleven years later they were joined by Dr Ian Boyd and moved to 5 Enys Road. In 1972 Dr Kent retired to concentrate on St Wilfrid’s Hospice and part time Anaesthetics. He was eventually replaced in 1975 by Dr John Clarke. Four years later they were joined by Dr Patrick Parker. In 1983 No 7 Enys Road was purchased and both buildings were connected and refurbished. In 1986 Dr Wilson retired and was replaced by Dr Bill Miller. In 1995 Dr Boyd retired and was replaced by two half time partners, Dr Karen Leeson and Dr Gilly Coutts. In 2004 Dr Parker retired and was replaced by Dr Daniel Liebenberg. In July 2007 Dr Valerie Bolton joined the surgery as a half-time partner with Dr John Clarke who reduced to part time working at that stage. On Dr Clarkes retirement in June 2008 Dr Ben Sturgess became a full-time partner and Dr Bolton a part-time salaried GP.

The Eastbourne Osteoporosis Centre

This centre is based within Enys Road surgery and it opened in January 1997. The centre provides a full osteoporosis service and was the first of its kind to be established in a primary care setting. It aims to increase awareness, diagnose and encourage treatment for osteoporosis. DXA (Dual Energy Xray Absorptiometry) is the most reliable, accurate, non-invasive procedure used to diagnose osteoporosis. Each of our GP Partners has a special interest in Osteoporosis.

The centre can be contacted on 01323 642828.

We take both NHS and private referrals for DXA scans.

Please contact the Centre Administrator if you would like more information.
